Serendipitous Affair

Some of the most fascinating parts of New York City are those nestled away from the typical tourist attractions. Whether you’re strolling along the Hudson River downtown, or exploring Central Park further uptown, there is so much rich culture and character that this great city has to offer. There are so many trendy cafes and restaurants that boast some of the greatest NY cuisine. One of which is located at 225 East 60th Street; the amazing Serendipity 3, famous for their decadent desserts.

It’s so sought out after that you often need a reservation to eat there. Not only do they have amazing desserts, but the food is delicious as well. They have such an eclectic menu with witty names such as the ‘Catcher in the Rye’ (which is a BLT with chicken topped with melted muenster on rye toast with Russian dressing) to ‘the Alamo’, which is what I ordered the last time I attended the NY landmark. ‘The Alamo’ is a spicy black bean burger served with picante salsa and cheddar cheese; which was delicious! You’d never think a vegetable burger could taste so good, but Serendipity 3 does it justice. It has so much flavor in it you will not a miss a traditional cheeseburger. It’s as if they concocted a method for making a vegetable burger mimic the taste of a regular burger.

Of course I had to cap it off with one of their famous sweet treats. Good thing I brought my brother and two cousins along so I could splurge and not feel guilty about the amount of calories that I was about to consume. Together we ordered the Forbidden Broadway Sundae; chocolate blackout cake with ice cream, hot fudge, and topped with whipped cream. It was so moist and warm and the cold vanilla ice cream is always such a good pairing, and to top it off was the fresh whipped cream.

It is truly an experience to endeavor upon the culinary triumphs that is Serendipity 3. Hopefully one day I can afford their Golden Opulence Sundae which rings up at $1,000.00, and contains edible gold.

As you can see there are many reasons to frequent this outstanding and it’s comforting to know that this gem is only a train ride away and that I can always indulge in a little sweet affair.
